Federation 2004
In the summer of 2004 the SSS Federation meeting took place in Morelia, Mexico. Approximately 110 Sisters of Social Service gathered from all over the world (Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, California, Taiwan, Philippines, Mexico, New York, Cuba and Canada) for two weeks.
The purpose of the gathering was to reconnect with one another, do a social analysis of the area, and to visit and assist the villagers in nine different locations.
It was an awesome experience. The general feeling was that we certainly learned more about life from the people we visited than they from us.
The Federation group was divided into nine teams that went to nine different villages. While at the villages we planted trees, gave talks about the environment, played with the children, visited with the adults and celebrated feasts with them. It was an experience we will treasure for years to come.
